You Can See Everything and Clayface are battling for the top spot, with each film projected to collect about $10.5 million domestically.
The unusually soft race reflects a broader slowdown in theatrical attendance during the holiday frame.
You Can See Everything is relying on audience interest and steady word of mouth as it seeks to edge out the competition.
Clayface, meanwhile, is drawing attention from comic-book fans and franchise audiences, but its opening has yet to produce a decisive lead.
The narrow gap means final weekend estimates and Monday updates could determine which title finishes No. 1.
With no major blockbuster dominating the market, the result underscores the increasingly competitive—and unpredictable—nature of the fall release calendar.
