The divergence underscores a growing reliance on international markets as automakers confront softer consumer demand, heavy discounting and excess production capacity at home.
Electric vehicles remain central to China’s export push, with manufacturers using overseas expansion to build brand recognition and offset volatility in domestic demand.
The figures also add to trade tensions with the United States and European Union, where officials have raised concerns about the scale of China’s subsidies and the impact of low-priced electric vehicles on local industries.
For Chinese automakers, strong exports offer an important buffer, but sustained growth abroad will depend on navigating tariffs, regulatory scrutiny and increasingly crowded global markets.
