The birthday tribute added a personal moment to the launch of Bird’s latest animated feature.
• Johansson and Rockwell, who lend their voices to the film, helped lead a surprise rendition of Happy Birthday for Giacchino.
• Bird, the film’s director, joined the cast in honoring the composer, whose work has shaped some of Hollywood’s most recognizable scores.
• Ray Gunn marks another collaboration between Bird and Giacchino, following their work on The Incredibles, Ratatouille and Mission Impossible Ghost Protocol.
• The premiere brought the creative team together in London as the film began its international rollout.
• Giacchino’s involvement continues a long association with animated and blockbuster cinema, including scores for Up, The Batman and the Jurassic World series.
The event combined the formal spotlight of a world premiere with an affectionate tribute to one of the industry’s most celebrated composers.
